Mark represents clients in the full spectrum of business litigation and transactions.  He has secured tens of millions of dollars in settlements and trial verdicts and closed dozens of business deals in recent years.   

Mark has been recognized a Top Lawyer by DBusiness Magazine for three out of the last four years, in both corporate and family law, and he is listed in Michigan Super Lawyers. Early in his career, Michigan Lawyers Weekly celebrated Mark as an one of the state's "Up and Coming Lawyers." Writing about Mark, Lawyers Weekly observed, "If the courtroom is a battlefield, Troy attorney Mark C. Rossman doesn’t mind affixing his helmet, strapping on his boots and grabbing a bayonet," and “no matter what he handles, Rossman knows the human factor always comes first.”

Mark has litigated cases up and down the appellate ladder, to the Supreme Courts of both the United States and Michigan.  His writing abilities, negotiation skills and oral advocacy are second to none. Click here to see an example of his oral argument.

Drawing upon his 18 years of experience in varied facets of business law, Mark is regularly invited to speak on topics of corporate governance and business litigation. In the Fall of 2018, Mark hosted and presented at the prestigious Symposium on Corporate Oppression, which was held in both Grand Rapids and Detroit (at Wayne State University Law School). In March 2018, Mark participated in a panel discussion hosted by the Michigan State Bar in Grand Rapids on matters of corporate succession planning and litigation avoidance through sound corporate governance practices. In July 2017, Mark presented for the Business Law and Taxation Sections at the Columbia Center in Troy on corporate legal issues affecting health care organizations. The presentation, which was profiled in the Detroit Legal News, principally focused on how different forms of corporate governance affect the operation of a medical practice, and, more specifically, the issues that arise in connection with partnership creation and also partnership separation. In February 2017, Mark sat on a panel of distinguished lawyers which presented on the effective use of consulting experts to the Oakland County Inns of Court.  The lecture focused on best practices in preserving the privilege enjoyed in utilizing consulting experts in litigation after Apple Inc. v. Amazon.com, Inc.  Mark is scheduled to present in February 2019 on issues of business valuation in the divorce context for American Inns of Court.

Education

Mark graduated with honors from the University of Michigan in 1998 with a B.A. in English.  He received his law degree from Wayne State University in 2001, graduating cum laude, near the top of his class. Mark distinguished himself in law school, earning a Silver Key Certificate for high scholarship and by winning first place in the law school’s mock trial competition.

Personal

Mark is a lifelong resident of Southeast Michigan.  He is married with three children. Outside of his law practice, he enjoys sports (baseball especially), writing fiction and poetry, snowboarding, and promoting his Detroit-based publishing company, publishing313.  In August 2015, Mark won second place in the State Bar of Michigan’s writing competition for his short story, The Last Bullet, which examines the questions and contradictions inherent in an act of vigilante justice.

Mission

Mark was well-advised at an early age of the hard work and dedication inherent in becoming a successful attorney.  His father worked at one of the greatest law firms in Detroit, Honigman Miller Schwartz and Cohn, LLP.  On Saturdays, Mark would go to the office with his dad and roam the halls while his dad dictated letters, marked up hard copy contracts (no computers back then), and reviewed the new supplements to health care regulations.  What strikes Mark most in hindsight was how seriously the attorneys in there, on the weekend, took their job.  It was in the pursuit of that very same high caliber law practice for which the Honigman firm is known that Mark founded the firm in 2015 and quickly partnered with the most capable, hard-working, diligent and intelligent of lawyers in order to provide legal services at the highest levels.

Between law school and the formation of Rossman Saxe, P.C., Mark worked 13 years and 9 months for the business litigator Gerard Mantese, becoming a named non-equity partner in the firm that is now called Mantese Honigman, P.C.
